The Internets are on!

Managed to get everything reconnected this morning. Yippee!

Now I'm trying to find where (or, more likely IF) I can buy tahini anywhere in Ogden. I'm hankering to make hummus and I can't find tahini to go in it. Sheesh, I could get it easier than this in South Texas. Is it locked up with the liquor?

Is there a Harmon's in Ogden? If so that might be your best bet (besides a specialty market).

Yeah! Glad you got that fixed. Did you find tahini?

Yup. Smith's down the road had two brands of tahini. I've found my new grocery store!

I tried Macey's first and it was such a dismal shopping experience. Unless I'm in desperate need of ingredients after midnight, I won't go back there.

For future reference, here is my official Utah grocery store pecking order, listed in descending quality (or snobbishness; take your pick). Albertsons is my cut-off point. Smiths is the workhorse of this group for me, mostly bc of location.

Dan's/Harmon's (tie)
Smiths
Albertsons
Macey's
Reams

If you are ever in Salt Lake City proper for some grocery shopping, check out The Store - they have two locations I know of near my folks home in Olympus Cove and Holiday. Small, upscale markets with a lot of specialty food items and local stuff and fountain drinks! Requisite Sunday dinner when we are in town is Meyer's Ham Loaf carried by The Store.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm in SLC often enough I can make runs to pick up specialty items.

I would like to find something similar in Ogden, land of 6,000 carnecerias. I'll have to see if there are any Asian or other ethnic food markets around.

I'll take you to The Store if you're in SLC this wknd. I was thinking earlier today that I need to go out there & get some more strawberry licorice wheels.
