Stupid Effing Cancer

Just heard tonight that dear friend Chester P. has colon cancer. A friend of Chester and Marilyn put out an APB tonight asking for their friends' help.

Since I'm not in California, I can't offer to drive Chester to appointments at the VA or drop by with a casserole. It's like having an extra helping of powerlessness in the face of an already daunting situation.

Hope to catch Marilyn on the phone soon. I imagine this is messing with her LSAT studies a bit, among other things. Like life as they knew it.

Open statement to all things cancerous: LAY OFF our collective loved ones, already! Go grow on ... I dunno, rocks or something.
