Babes in Heat

The WHOLE wedding rundown will eventually appear here. For now, please enjoy this photo of the bride and the largest assembly of Scary Feminists from Hell ever--six out of nine. Clockwise from left: Sylvia, Lara, JaneAnne, Robyn, Janet, and ME.

If we look especially glowy, it was due to the record high temperature of 112.5 degrees.

Hey Mary Ellen, it's not like you're going to read this anytime soon, but you look beautiful. Wish we could have been there (though it's kind of hard from Illinois, right?) ... I'm sure Russell's already sent his congrats, but I'll add mine. (And, may I add, since we'll actually be in relative closer proximity, maybe we can find a way to get together again.)

Actually, I haven't already sent my congrats...like an idiot, I put your wedding announcement in a pile of mail that got packed who knows when, and into who knows what box, and then sometime on Saturday, I said to Melissa, "You know, I think Mary Ellen is getting married today," and she said, "Um, YEA, did you forget?"

Fabulous picture; glad you all survived the heat. (You did, didn't you?) We'll all be looking forward to the whole story, but in the meantime....many congratulations to you and Mike! Our very best wishes for a great start to this new journey for you both. Let's hope that on this stage, our paths may actually cross every once in a while!

Congrats and enjoy. Wish I could have been there. And despite the heat, South Texas in July is a great place to be--right now a Mottled Owl (only the second to ever be found north of Mexico) is being seen down there. In some cultures, owls are bad luck...but I know better. Its a good omen for you!

Thanks, all. It was a beautiful ceremony & reception--and wonderful to have so many friends and loved ones there.

We watched part of the wedding video the other night and I got all verklempt. And giggled at how often the camera dipped to focus on our feet...shoulda brought the tripod.

Maybe tomorrow I'll get around to writing up more of the wedding festivities and honeymoon adventures (PG of course).

Okay, I know I mentioned the heat as one of the lowlights, but in truth, the beauty of the day was the absolute highlight. This was one of the funnest/most fun (??) and genuinely heartfelt weddings I've ever been to. It was a privilege to be part of the wedding party and to share in this joyous day for you! And I think you were also one of the loveliest brides I've ever seen. Loved the dress. It was simply fab, darling!
