The Eyes Have It

It being pinkeye. Blech!

I woke up Monday morning with a left eye that looked like it had been on a three-day bender. I applied Visine last night with no discernible effect, so this morning I started calling doctors. Seven doctors, in fact, before finding one whose number wasn't disconnected, who wasn't a surgical specialist, who wasn't out of town, who wasn't already booked solid for weeks.

I've been feelin' poorly the last couple of days, too, so the Dr. wrote me a note to stay home from work until Monday. I don't know if I'll be out that long, but it's nice to have the option. Given all the things I need to do this week (step kids arrive next Tuesday), it's not a bad time to be out. I dragged a couple of thick policy manuals home with me so perhaps we can call this respite "working from home."

I don't know where or when I got exposed to the dreaded pinkeye. Church, maybe? It's the largest concentration of people I'm ever around at once. Dr. said it can take up to a week to show up after being exposed.

I just hope I won't be felling others at the office.

I never realized how often I touch my eye area until I was instructed NOT to during the course of treatment.

Now I'm trying to remember which eye makeup I used so I can toss out potential reinfection vectors.

Bummer! Eye problems suck. Hope you get all better soon.

Sorry about the pinkeye. Unfortunately, it's most contagious BEFORE it goes full blown. We had a bout of it last year. Yucky.

Ouch. I've had it twice - and M never got infected despite living in close quarters!

I found out where I was exposed. I talked to Peggy of the home makeover service project and she said her daughter was just getting over a case of pinkeye.

My guess is I touched the bed the daughter gave Peggy or something else in the house she touched and then touched my eyes. Painting the ceilings was sweaty work and I kept mopping up so the sweat rivulets wouldn't get in my eyes.

I am feeling more human today. If that holds, I'll probably head back to work Friday.
