Wreck the Halls

The top half of our tree with slightly askew bow:

And the bottom half, post-Cosby:

Also, our lovely after-Christmas dinner: filet mignon with roasted shallots and not-quite-cream sauce (in which I learn not to substitute half and half for heavy cream):

Mmm, THAT's what's for dinner! You're in the right place for beef, right? Is it easy to find high-quality beef there? Is it cheaper at all?

Nice tree. :-)

I love this recipe! It's especially good with smashed potatoes, too!

And yes, you should never substitute real cream with half-and-half. Butter, cream, and pork fat: they all rule for a reason!

Love the tree, by the way. Boo Cosby.

We shelled out the bucks for 2 6-oz filets at the supermarket only to see them in the Sun Harvest circular for 1/3 the price. Oops. The pricey ones were GOOD. Grunting, pre-verbal, Meat Good, to be precise. :)

I don't substitute anything for real butter, ever. The same standard now applies to cream.

I do like the colors on the tree--gold, turquoise and teal. Looks nice against the clover green walls. My SIL did all red & gold ornaments on her tree and it was gorgeous. I'm totally ripping off her color scheme next year. :)
