Playing telephone at church

Our choir director, Allison, asked for our input for the Christmas program--holiday memories, traditions, etc.--to use as narration between songs. I was kinda hoping to read my own submission (since I can make my own words funnier than someone else) but she already had a narrator picked out. I didn't want to mess with her vision, but I did ask for a part in the Easter program since it will be my last hurrah with our magnificent ward choir.

Yesterday, Allison flagged me down after sacrament meeting to talk about the Easter program I had wanted to write. Huh? My wanting a speaking part in the program turned into me writing the entire Easter program?! Holy Shakespeare in Love!

The bishopric is breathing down Allison's neck for details. Understandable when Easter Sunday is three weeks away. My options: I can write the whole thing, I can be one of two speakers or the bishopric can ask new/other people to speak.

I asked to think about this during choir rehearsal. Still trying to figure out how the wires got SO crossed--and that this is the first I'm hearing about my substantial role.

Fortunately, I am not without resources.

A friend put together an Easter program several years ago that focused on the women present at the crucifixion and resurrection. I like the focus, since it's not typical of what we hear on Easter. She also presented it at Sunstone West when it fell on Easter weekend. Maybe I shouldn't mention that until after the program...

My copy of the script is somewhere in storage, so I called Laura last night to ask for a copy. She happily obliged and I am grateful to have the option of NOT starting from scratch if I am putting the program together!
Still, HOW did this land in my lap?

I can kind of feel your pain on this one. About a month ago I was asked to be the sole Easter program speaker, along with the requisite Easter Sunday Choir program. At least I've had some prep time, although I love your idea of woman of the resurrection. Good luck, I can't wait to hear how it turns out.
also- I agree, the ward choir in Pasadena is magnificent. I loved that whole ward actually, it has been among my favorites. I enjoyed the book club we had there. I coordinate our book club here in Lake Forest which consists of, but is not limited to, some mighty sharp LDS women. I also loved the unofficial RS scrapbooking gatherings we did every Monday morning at the church building in Pasadena...
